Hello everyone and welcome to the magical world of DaBang Designs! We are glad you all had a chance to stop by and (finally) enjoy some of our art. As the many of our friends and framily know, we have both only dreamed of doing art since the first whiff of a fresh crayon straight out of the box. Well, over the years (and year and years and yeaaaaaarrrrrrs) of grueling work developing our skills, we are finally ready to share a look at what we have been working on! I hope you enjoy taking a little dive into the worlds we have both been building and help support us in all the endeavors to come!
Dominique's Current Chapter
Without much further ado, after all the anticipation, at the edge of your seats. Are you ready for this ride? Well, the collection I have been working on most recently (and you are about to see) is a love letter to Little Dominique. The Little Dominique that wanted nothing more than to live her days under the vast sky meandering through the forest befriending the species contained within. The sun-kissed, feral child covered head to toe in mud never wanting to clean off. She had a passion for mixing "potions" in her grandmother's basement, an impassioned drive to chronical all the amazing things she was constantly discovering. The girl who was determined at all costs not to allow the world to steal her creativity. And of course, the most obvious of all, she wanted to be an artist when she grew up!
Well, guys, Adult Dominique is going to make it happen! I have rekindled my love of pottery. Pushed paint around in ways I have never even considered before. I even taught myself how to sew with tools and thread from both of my grandmothers stitching their love through my wardrobe. The "Crumb on By" image seen above is even a sneakem peakem of one of the children's books I have rattling around in the old noggin. This collection is far from complete, but I hope you enjoy it in the meantime. There's a bunch more to come!
Bens Current Chapter
My better half explained our journey of art and discovery taking a lot of work and grueling focus, my own contribution to that rings true. My hunt after an art career continues...the starving artist motif struggle was real. I graduated from Ringling College of Art in 2005 and fell into the life trap of balancing the oddly rare freelance art jobs with managing restaurants and bouncing around multiple food service jobs for years. In 2013, I left Sarasota for Colorado and spent 2 years there before moving to South Carolina. After year there I finally planted myself in Pittsburgh, PA. So here I am all nestled into this little city and finally can put my feet up to continue the dream. I am a freelance illustrator and painter and I am here. I am currently very busy finishing up a children's book in the fall but will be available thereafter for commissions. I look forward to it!
